The Lake Eyre Basin
The Lake Eyre Basin has become a major tourist destination in the last decade and now relies on tourism to support its economy. Expeditions further into the remote and untouched basin regions are now available to visit indigenous and non-indigenous sites.
It's understandable why people from across the country and abroad want to see this incredible landform and there is lots to see!
There are many phenomenal cultural, natural and spiritual spots in the Lake Eyre Basin.
Surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty and a peaceful atmosphere. There are many tour deals at special prices on offer here and here.

Negative effects of tourism
Although different areas of the Basin are protected by National Parks, some people still defy the "don't litter" warnings and dump their rubbish in waterholes.
Off-road vehicles damage sacred sites, disturbance of bird breeding sites, damage to fences which protect conservation areas and weed introductions are just a few of the problems created by growing visitor numbers.
